SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 6, 2006 - Solix Technologies, a leading provider of information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions, today announced two new standalone modules for the Solix ARCHIVEjinni active archiving solution. The first is the new Data Security module and the second is the new Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME subetting module. These two modules add new security and subsetting capability to Solix ARCHIVEjinni, the industry's only unified active archiving platform - a single platform for managing all enterprise data; structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
The Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security and Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME modules operate together to make the creation of secure subsets of a production database easier and more secure. The Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME module adds a secured instance subsetting tool to Solix ARCHIVEjinni that makes the creation of subsets of production databases easy. The Data Security module adds a metadata-driven data security tool for protecting confidential information in subsets and in archived instances of a database. The resulting secure subset or archive is as secure, if not more, than the production database instance.
"Effective security involves more than just securing data against unauthorized visibility. Secure enterprise data must remain relationally and contextually intact so that it can be used effectively in development, test, quality assurance, training and outsourced environments," said Shekhar Dasgupta, president & chief operating officer, Solix Technologies. "With this release Solix ARCHIVEjinni can secure data using the most advanced data encryption, data masking and scrambling algorithms, while preserving the data's integrity."
According to Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), 54% of information in databases is confidential. \"Most people worry about external threats accessing sensitive corporate data, says Brian Babineau, senior analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group. "But with database information the threats can be internal because developers and other internal parties have access to highly sensitive data. With the Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security and Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME software, companies can easily mask sensitive rows and columns in a database, securing the information and keeping it private from developers, testers or outsourcing partners.\"
Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME Module - Secured Instance Subsetting Tool Creating subsets of production databases is time consuming but enterprises must undertake the activity to support application development, testing, training and outsourcing activities. Compared to cloning an entire database, subsetting eliminates unnecessary data duplication resulting in reduced storage costs and improved system performance. The new Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME module comes with a new and powerful approach to subsetting. The new approach adds the ability to easily create subsets using a parameter-driven engine, greatly reducing the amount of time and effort that is required to create subsets for non-production environments and reducing the amount of storage needed to support a non-production environment. The subsets created have all of the original data relationships intact, ensuring that they function identically to the original database. The new Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME approach is about two to five times faster than other subsetting tools that use traditional approaches, resulting in improved productivity, reduced testing and development cycles, and up to 50 percent savings on the storage infrastructure needed to support a typical enterprise non-production environment.
The new Solix ARCHIVEjinni MiniME module has an integrated data masking engine that can be used to secure sensitive data while keeping the referential integrity of the secure data intact.
Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security Module - Metadata-driven data security tool The standalone Data Security module for Solix ARCHIVEjinni adds sophisticated encryption and masking technologies that simplify the creation of secure archives or subsets. Data encryption and masking security techniques protect private data such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, or medical identification numbers in non-production instances, such as outsourced testing or development environments, and in archives. The Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security Module encrypts original database values, minimizing risk and ensuring that regulatory compliance is achieved. The Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security module's sophisticated algorithms ensure that the data is protected while the integrity of the relationships in the database is maintained. The Solix ARCHIVEjinni Data Security module has the most flexible and widest range of security options available for creating secure subsets including: encryption; scrambling; substitution; nulling; masking; and the ability to support third party algorithms. These options can be used together to provide an even higher level of security.
The Solix ARCHIVEjinni is the only active archiving solution built using a unified platform with a single metadata repository for all enterprise data, simplifying the task of enterprise search and eliminating redundant data across multiple systems. The solution will ensure high data quality - a key component of compliance and regulatory requirements. With its unified architecture, enterprise customers can deploy Solix ARCHIVEjinni - now with the ability to easily create secure subsets and archives - across enterprise applications, custom applications, data warehouses, email systems and unstructured data types that would not otherwise be possible using point solutions.
Both modules are available now. Customers can license Solix ARCHIVEjinni directly from Solix Technologies or through its global network of resellers.
To help educate IT professionals and executive management on how archiving and database subsetting ensures data security, Solix will host a free webinar with the industry analyst firm, Enterprise Strategy Group, titled "Best Practices in Intelligent Information Management," on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. PDT/2:00 p.m. EDT.
